A Special MLK Day at The Wren’s Nest

We started 2024 on a bright note thanks to Hands On Atlanta!

The Wren's Nest was selected as a service project site for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and approximately 200 volunteers spent the holiday beautifying our yard and helping organize our basement.

They raked leaves, assembled new benches and shelves, laid pine straw, cleared litter, and more—and our 2.5-acre campus is looking better than ever.

We were also excited to share the museum with many of these special guests on mini-tours of the house. (P.S. The day also involved installing a new Little Free Library, which will officially open soon!)

Special thanks to the entire Hands On Atlanta team who coordinated this large-scale effort, as well as the many sponsors who made it possible: ADP, Alston & Bird, AmeriCorps, Fiserv, IBM, Microsoft, and Salesforce.

Thanks also to our wonderful West End neighbors—West Hunter Street Baptist Church, Benjamin Moore/Southwest Paint Shop, and the Lottie Watkins Building—for generously sharing their parking facilities so that we could accommodate this large number of fantastic volunteers.
